Transparency International Pakistan Empowering the Future of Climate Leadership at UET Lahore

Transparency International Pakistan hosted the Orientation Session of the Youth Climate Education & Fellowship Program 2025 at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore. This engaging session, themed "Pakistan and the Climate Emergency: Empowering Youth with Climate Governance Solutions," aimed to equip young leaders with the knowledge and tools to actively participate in climate governance and promote transparency in climate action.

A total of 40 students from various departments of UET Lahore have been selected for this prestigious fellowship program. The session brought together a diverse group of youth climate fellows, thought leaders, and climate experts for a day of dynamic discussions, interactive learning, and collaborative activities. The speakers included Ms. Nazifa Butt, Director Climate Action & Sustainability, WWF Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Zaheer Aslam, Chairman, Department of Chemical Engineering, UET Lahore, Dr. Izzat Iqbal Cheema, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical, Polymer and Composite Materials Engineering, UET Lahore, Ms. Nasreen Memon, Project Coordinator, TI Pakistan, and Ms. Fariha Fatima Programme and Procurement Associate, TI Pakistan.

Throughout the session, fellows actively engaged in hands-on, interactive activities designed to enhance their understanding of key climate change terminologies and to familiarize them with the structure and functions of climate governance systems in Pakistan. The Youth Climate Education & Fellowship Program 2025, an initiative by Transparency International Pakistan, will continue until December 2025 and aims to enhance participants’ understanding of critical areas such as climate change, policy development, carbon markets, disaster risk management, and the socio-economic dimensions of environmental issues.
